The first client Barry Baldwin built for ten years ago recently stopped by
Baldwin’s current project to see how it was progressing, testimony to the
quality work Waterford does for its clients and the effort Baldwin puts into
building relationships with them. Founder and President of Waterford
Construction, Baldwin has always been interested in real estate, serving as
a Senior VP for a national bank's real estate banking group. A decade ago,
Baldwin began development on a property he had invested in and was so
enamored with the experience he decided to turn his investment into a vocation.
The system is the secret.
What that experience taught Baldwin was that his corporate background
gave him the insight and perspective into how his clients think the
homebuilding process should flow. With decades of real estate banking
experience and a lifelong passion for building to guide him, Baldwin
decided to pursue his part-time investment full time, and he’s never looked
back. He designed the build process at Waterford to be systematic so that
the clients are aware of construction schedules and can determine their
level of involvement in their home’s construction. Baldwin prides himself on
his accessibility to his clients and often hears from them that no other
homebuilders listen as closely as he does.

In its ten years of operation, Waterford has experienced amazing success in
its niche of $1.2 - 3 million build-to-suit homes, due in part to the great
team Baldwin has put together. He secured Waterford’s initial success by
partnering with a builder with 27 years of experience. After buying his
partner out, Baldwin persuaded his wife, Jan, to lend her decades of
marketing and leadership experience to his efforts. Baldwin wants to create
an atmosphere that encourages the company’s junior members to
collaborate in Waterford’s development, ensuring that its hallmark build
process is preserved for future clients.
Built to the highest energy standards.
Waterford is a member of Green Built North Texas, a voluntary
partnership of local home builders, industry supporters, and sponsors
committed to creating awareness and interest in the construction of
higher-performance, lower-impact residential homes in North Central
Texas. The program establishes elements of housing construction that HBA
members have deemed essential in order to carry a “green built” label.
Homes certified into the program conform to high standards of site
management and waste recycling, water efficiency, indoor air quality,
energy efficiency, materials, and homeowner education.
At a minimum, Waterford builds the Green Built North Texas requirements
and to the industry respected ENERGY STAR® standards. Waterford
incorporates features such as air tight building envelope with fresh air
ventilation, pressure balancing to ensure even heating and cooling
throughout the house, and properly sized and installed mechanical
systems. Waterford also recommends the use of systems and products that
have earned the Good House Keeping Seal.
